The 2012 Geneva Little League Baseball and Softball Season is Underway!

Game Preparation

It is extremely important that each player come to every game prepared and ready to play!

This means that YOU (the player) should:
  • BE READY TO HAVE FUN!!!
  • Have a healthy snack in your belly
  • Wear your team uniform with your shirt tucked in
  • Have your team hat and your cleats (double knotted)
  • Have all gear or equipment you use during a game

Equipment such as helmets, bats and catcher's gear are provided by GLL for the use of all players. However, some players prefer to purchase and use their own helmets, bats, catcher's gear, etc.  If this is the case, the players providing their own equipment typically do not want other players using their personal belongings.  Please explain this to your child(ren).

BEHAVIOR in the DUGOUT and ON THE FIELD

Please note that players may not leave the dugout during their gameEXCEPT for use of the bathroom or for an emergency.

PARENTS / GUARDIANS, siblings or friends are NOT ALLOWED in the DUGOUT during games.  This is a matter of liability.

DUGOUT BEHAVIOR:

All players are to remain in the dugout while their team is at bat.

The only player to be outside of the dugout is the player on deck (the next player up to bat).

LISTEN TO YOUR COACH(ES), being respectful of all, and PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR GAME!

NO FOOD IS ALLOWED IN THE DUGOUTS.  However, players may bring sunflower seeds or Big League Chew (gum) into the dugout.

Players are strongly encouraged to bring a beverage (i.e., water, Gatorade) with them to each game to help keep them hydrated.  NO SODA!

ON THE FIELD BEHAVIOR:

LISTEN TO YOUR COACH(ES), being respectful of all, and PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR GAME---BE ALERT AT ALL TIMES!

Thank you for your cooperation.

Philosophy Of The Organization

Geneva Little League (GLL) exists for the purpose of teaching each child the fundamentals of the sport and to provide the framework for the wholesome participation at each child's playing ability.

Having fun while learning, and being treated with dignity is each child's right and each adult's responsibility.

Coaches and parents shall stress sportsmanship, team spirit, and developing skills more than winning.  In addition to learning the fundamentals, the child, parents, and coaches should learn and remember how to lose graciously.

Umpires, coaches and parents shall employ appropriate language when dealing with impressionable youth.

Umpires, coaches and parents will not tolerate profanity.

Youth Sports Parent Code of Conduct

The essential elements of integrity building and ethics in sports are embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and the "Six Pillars Of Character":

  • Turstworthiness
  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Fairness
  • Caring
  • Good Citizenship

The highest potential of sports is achieved when competition reflects these "Six Pillars Of Character".

Please check back periodically for updates.  Thank you!

PLEASE NOTE:
ON CHILLY AND RAINY GAME DAYS, PLEASE CONSIDER SENDING A PAIR OF GLOVES / MITTENS AND A FLEECE / SWEATSHIRT WITH YOUR CHILD SO HE / SHE MAY ATTEMPT TO REMAIN WARM WHEN IN THE DUGOUT.  ALSO, IT WILL HELP IF YOUR CHILD WEARS A LAYER OF WARMTH UNDER THEIR TEAM JERSEY.
