2020 Season Update

Geneva Little League 2020 season cancelled.

The Geneva Little League Board of Directors has followed the guidance of Little League International, District 5 and state and local health officials throughout the past few weeks as our nation and world deal with an unprecedented public health crisis. Based on their advice, Geneva Little League had been holding out hope for the possibility of a modified midsummer season if conditions allowed. Unfortunately, the time has now come for us to announce that the 2020 season has been canceled in its entirety.

This news is as hard for us to share as it is for you to hear. Little League is part of the rhythm of all of our lives, from our youngest players to our oldest volunteers. There’s autumn, there’s winter … and then there’s baseball and softball season.

We’ll miss the practices and games, and all the cheers and tears that come with them. We’ll miss the smell of hot dogs and fries, and the crowd of tiny customers vying for a spot to order their next batch of FreezePops and CowTails. We’ll miss the rainy days and the dusty games and those perfect nights when it’s not too cold and not too hot. Most of all, we’ll miss all of you.

But, Opening Day will come again, and when it does we will be there waiting for you.

Geneva Little League will honor all requests for refunds of 2020 registration fees. However, we also respectfully ask that you consider donating some or all of those funds to Geneva Little League so the organization can continue to meet its financial obligations and prepare for the 2021 season minus a full year of revenue. Any donations will be used to pay ongoing bills, help fund needed field and building maintenance and, with your generosity, allow us to continue pursing a handful of previously planned and much needed upgrades, including improved dugouts, fencing and bathroom facilities.

We understand that some families are also struggling financially during this time, so we understand if you cannot commit to making a donation. If you are able to make a donation, we thank you for your generosity.

Please use the following link for all refunds and donations. It will take you to a short form that must be submitted no later than June 15. Refunds will be processed after that date. Any funds not claimed by Sept. 1 will be considered a donation.
